Why choose custom built solutions?
There are many reasons why you would choose to build your own custom software, but here are the top 5 we believe our clients choose custom over off the shelf.
1. Built to your EXACT requirements
There are many state of the art pre-built CRM systems out there that are filled with tons of amazing features and functionality. However, our experience tells us that if a CRM is convoluted with lots of stuff that your staff never use, they are less likely to start using the software in the first place. Why? The features all create complexity and people love simplicity.
Creating a custom solution ensures that you have only the functionality that you need. This means it takes less time for your staff to learn how to use the software and should increase productivity.
And if there is a feature you desperately need, but don’t have in your current version, just have it added. You cannot do this in pre-built software.
2. Integration with your existing business applications
One of the biggest concerns our clients have when deciding to go with a custom CRM solution is how it will integrate with their existing business systems. Well, custom is just that. Made to measure and fit your requirements, not the other way round.
You don’t want to have to make changes to all other aspects of your business to have a CRM that works. You want tailor-made software that accommodates everything that you have in place right now.
3. Features on demand
Have you ever been using a CRM and just thought to yourself “Wouldn’t it be great if I could just do this”? If the system is pre-built with hundreds of companies using it, well, there is no way you would be able to make that change.
With custom built CRM, you put in a change request to your developer and they let you know whether it is something that can be done and what the time-frame would be to deliver your request. That is a little taste of heaven right there.
You have a fixed upfront cost to get exactly what you want, so you know exactly where you stand.
Here is an example of where pre-built goes wrong. You only have 20 users and this only costs £45 / month / user. You think that is great! However, a month down the line you need a new feature, but this mean you have to upgrade from the basic plan to the professional plan. The pricing goes us to £90 / user / month. Next thing you are paying £21,600 PER YEAR. That was the cost of the custom solution right there.
If you want a new feature you pay a fixed fee for that change and don’t pay for it again.
5. Customise for different markets, departments or franchise models
You have an organisation across different countries, different time zones, different currencies? Try finding a solution that meets that need and still fits with all the basic requirements of your business. It just doesn’t exist.
With a custom CRM you can have it made to measure so that it meets all your departmental needs.
